    Ghost Boot Wizard

Created using the Ghost Boot Wizard with additional drivers for Dell and Lenovo. Intel dropped support for Vista (PE 2.0) so this disk will not work for the Dell. I am working to create a symantec ghost boot disk for IBM Thinkpad T40 laptop. I am using the Symantec Ghost 7.5 version, Ghost Boot Wizard, I click add to creat a boot disk and the NIC driver that I loaded it does not work. I have got the correct driver for the laptop.

Symantec Ghost Documentation The purpose of this configuration file is to illustrate how to configure the Symantec Ghost Server for the ITL. We begin installing a complete implementation of the operating system on a target computer.

This will be the source for our image file that will be distributed out to the remaining computers in the lab. We then make a ghost disk for the source machine to upload it to the ghost server. We double click on the 'Ghost Boot Wizard' and then select the 'Network Boot Disk' option and continue with 'Next' In the above step you select the drivers that correspond to the Ethernet card of the client computers. All the current Dell computers in the ITL have the '3Com 3C90X NDIS' option for there 3C905 network cards. We then click next to continue through the wizard. At this point, select the Symantec Ghost Option and not the option for DOS.

We then feed in the parameters for the Uploading Diskette as follows: -clone, mode=pdump,src=1:2,dst=@MCitl /sure /quiet /rb The options are explained as '-clone' to enable the cloning from a ghost server. The 'mode=pdump' sets the mode of the cloning operation to 'partition dump': which means that the workstation will dump its partition to the server. 'src=1:2' represents that the source for the image is the First physical hard disk, and that hard disks Second partition.

The 'dst@MCitl' instructs the ghost program that the destination is MultiCast server '@MC' with the Session name 'itl'. The '/sure' switch forces a continuance of yes to all the questions asked by the normal ghost program. The switch '/quiet' turns off the interactive mode for the ghost program.

The final switch of '/rb' reboots the machine after it is done. If we are Implementing the Boot Disk Wizard for Client Disks, we would specify other parameters in this window. These alternate paramters are as follows: -clone, mode=pload,src=@MCitl,dst=1:2 /sure /quiet /rb The options are explained as '-clone' to enable the cloning from a ghost server. The 'mode=pload' sets the mode of the cloning operation to 'partition load': which means that the workstation will acquire its partition from the server. 'src=@MCitl' represents that the source for the image is the MultiCasted Session named 'itl'. The 'dst=1:2' instructs the ghost program that the destination is the local computer hard drive 1, partition 2. Days before rodeo songs. The '/sure' switch forces a continuance of yes to all the questions asked by the normal ghost program.

The switch '/quiet' turns off the interactive mode for the ghost program. The final switch of '/rb' reboots the machine after it is done. We then hit 'Next' and arrive at this screen: The above image represents the DHCP settings for the client computer of the ghost.

It also allows more multiple router hops: defining the distance it will search for the multi-casted Ghost Server. In the ITL we leave these options at their default, and hit 'Next' arriving here: This is the screen which asks for the number of disks to be created. When creating an Uploading or (DUMP-DISK) you need only one floppy to be created. If you are creating the Disks for the client loading (LOAD-DISK) you would probably create the number of disks that is equal to the number of client (workstation) in the lab. The ITL has 30 client (load) disks. We generally enable the formatting and quick format of each disk to ensure that the disk is clean prior to the ghosting operation.

Again we hit 'Next': At this point, the Ghost Creation Wizard gives a summary of the actions that are to be carried out upon all of the disks that are going to be made. You can read all of the options that you selected to ensure that you specified the correct parameters before making the diskettes.

You will then hit 'Next' and the wizard will begin to make the diskettes: prompting you for each disk.
